Qatar Attestation Q&A

An attestation legally acknowledges the authenticity of your document. It is also a requirement for your documents if you plan to move to Qatar for work, study or to do business in the State.

The first step in the attestation process is to get your Canadian documents authenticated by Global Affairs Canada. Once this is done, the Qatari Embassy in Ontario attests your documents. Only then will your documents be recognized in Qatar.

The general fee is 50 CAD$, but it costs more to attest commercial documents. Check out the attestation section for a full cost breakdown

A marriage certificate falls under the ‘personal documents’ category. To use your Canadian marriage certificate in Qatar, it has to be first authenticated by Global Affairs Canada and then attested by the Qatari Embassy.

You can submit your document at the Embassy in person or by mail (don’t forget to include a prepaid envelope to receive your documents back!). The cost of an attestation is 50 CAD$ and your certificate should be ready in 5-10 business days.

You first have to submit your Canadian documents to Global Affairs Canada for authentication. Once Global Affairs Canada authenticates your documents, you then have to submit them to the Qatari Embassy in Ontario for an attestation.

You can find more detailed information on attestation fees and turnaround times for different types of documents in our tables above.

The Qatari attestation process generally takes 5-10 business days for documents already authenticated by Global Affairs Canada.

The turnaround time is longer if you’re trying to attest Qatari documents for use in Canada as the Embassy has to send your documents to Qatar.

You must attest educational diplomas or certificates to apply for a work visa. To attest your educational documents, you must provide the original diploma, school transcript and an authenticity letter from the university all attested by the Qatar Embassy in Ontario. Your educational degree can be rejected if you don’t follow this process.

You can find more information on this, including qatar certificate attestation fees in the tables above.

Prior to moving to Qatar, you have to ensure that all your documents have been authenticated by Global Affairs Canada and then attested by the Qatari Embassy in Ontario.

If you do not do this prior to arriving in Qatar, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs sends your documents to Global Affairs Canada and then to their Embassy in Ottawa but this involves a long waiting time.

While this depends on your employer, you can expect to be asked for your teaching degree, university certificates, transcripts, police clearance, passport and IDs. Some employers also ask for work experience letters.

You will have to create notarized copies of all of these documents and submit them for authentication at Global Affairs Canada and subsequent attestation at the Qatari Embassy.

Together with your original degree, you have to submit the original confirmation of graduation letter, and the original transcript. In addition, the Registrar’s Office of the institution where you studied has to send a second original transcript and a completed “True Copy Certificate” Form directly to the Embassy. You can find this form in our Attestation of Educational Documents Table.

The fee for this service is 50 CAD$ and the processing time is 5-10 business days

At Document Authentication Canada, we work closely with the Qatar Embassy Canada to facilitate the attestation process. Get in touch with our expert team on 1-855-700-5840 for assistance.
