What is an Argentina legalization/apostille?
Your Canadian documents need to be legalized to be valid for use in Argentina. This process is conducted by the Consulates of Argentina in Toronto and Montreal.

The Legalization process at the Argentina Embassy
You can either legalize your documents in person or by mail at one of the Argentinian Consulates.
In-person
- Before submitting your document to the Consulate, obtain authentication from Global Affairs Canada. If it is a commercial document, you can authenticate it via the Canadian Chamber of Commerce instead.

By mail

- Include an envelope, postage stamps, and a photocopy of your ID.
- Include also a certified check or money order issued to the “Consulate General of Argentina” in a closed envelope addressed to the Consulate General of Argentina.
- When filling in the Global Affairs Canada form, make sure to fill in the details that request it to forward the authenticated documents directly to the relevant Argentinian Consulate.
- You will receive your documents back by mail.
To legalize certificates of origin
- The certificate can be original or a copy.
- It must have been issued in the last 360 days.
- On the back, you need to sign a sworn statement indicating the full name and address of the importer in Argentina, the date and number of the commercial invoice, and the part of the shipment that is being re-exported to Argentina.
To legalize commercial invoices
- You need to present a copy of the original commercial invoice.
- The commercial invoice must have the certificate of origin number, and the description of the goods must correlate with that on the certificate of origin.
