Before you can use foreign documents in the UAE, they have to be attested by the UAE Embassy in Ottawa. This process is sometimes called legalization – or, in some countries, apostille. In the UAE, the term ‘document attestation’ is used.

Similarly, UAE documents to be used in Canada have to be attested by the UAE MoFAIC.

How do I get UAE Embassy legalization

The UAE Embassy can only attest documents that are authenticated by Global Affairs Canada. Documents must be authenticated separately, and they must be returned to you, not the UAE Embassy. This is to prevent documents from being lost in the mail, and for you to confirm that Global Affairs Canada has processed your documents.

What is a UAE attestation?

Attestation is a process that confirms the validity of your documents. This is a requirement if you’re planning to move to UAE to work, study, or to do business.

Attestation proves that you are a genuine person or company that is visiting the UAE with good intentions, since your documents are proven to be authentic.

Do I need to attest my degree to get a job in UAE?

You don’t have to have the attested documents when applying for a job, but you will need them when you are hired. Only low-level unskilled jobs don’t need to attest educational certificates to work in the UAE.

Going to the UAE without attesting your documents will lead to unnecessary delays in processing your work visa. This can lead you to lose a job opportunity.

What are the documents to be attested for an employment visa in the UAE?

To get a UAE visa, you’ll need to attest your personal and educational documents. This means you need a degree attestation for UAE.

The documents related to your education must be first authenticated by Global Affairs Canada. Then, the documents must be certified by the UAE Embassy and also Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Some jobs also require that your documents be verified by the UAE’s Ministry of Education.

What is the process to attest a document at the UAE embassy in Canada?

The first step is to get your Canadian documents authenticated by Global Affairs Canada. However, Invoices, Certificates of Origins, Packing Lists, and other documents related to the invoice must be authenticated by the Chamber of Commerce or Board of Trade in Canada.

The UAE Government provides visas for different purposes, depending on your reasons for visiting the UAE. There are different visas to live, work, or go for a holiday in the UAE.

No advance visa arrangements are needed if you are visiting the UAE with a passport issued by Andorra, Australia, Brunei, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Kazakhstan, Macau, Malaysia, Mauritius, Monaco, New Zealand, Ireland, San Marino, Singapore, Ukraine, UK, USA, or Vatican City.

Upon arrival, your passport will be stamped with a 30-day visit visa free of charge.

A UAE visa is also granted upon arrival for persons traveling with a passport issued by:

If your passport was issued by one of these countries, you are eligible for a 90-day visit. Your passport will be stamped upon arrival and your multiple entry 90-day visit visa is valid for six months, for a stay of 90 days in total.

European citizens can also apply for a pre-arranged visit visa once they fully utilize their 90-day visa.

Mexican citizens are eligible for a multiple entry 180-day visit visa that’s valid for 6 months.
